Good morning everyone. This is the final email newsletter from Timmel Fabrics. I hope that you do not dwell on my closing too long; life moves on, there are some fabric vendors out there who can provide you with nice fabrics; just remember that the little fabric retailer cannot operate in the same manner as the big franchises or stores. We buy fabrics in smaller amounts at much higher prices; therefore we cannot compete by offering the same type of sales. But if you want the small independent stores to remain in business, you need to support them and buy things, not when they are on sale, but at regular price. This is the only income we small retailers have, and waiting for sales is the equivalent of asking someone to work for half their pay cheque this week.

There are only a few fabrics left in stock; and all remaining patterns have been reduced to $5 each, with Akasha patterns at $4 each. Shipping costs vary, depending on the pattern company. Since Jalie patterns are large and heavier than others, they have their own shipping schedule which is posted on the Jalie link.

EUCALAN

Since many of you have discovered Eucalan, I know that you need to be able to find it closer to home. Most good yarn shops will carry Eucalan since it is the nicest product for washing hand-knit items. As well, it is now carried by numerous retailers throughout North America. There is a link on the Eucalan site for distributors and I recommend that you check there to find one near you.

TIME TO SAY GOOD-BYE

So that is it, ladies. Probably by this time next week, I will be taking down the site and disconnecting the business phone. It has been a busy nine years, with lots of experiences of many sorts. I suppose the biggest has been the SWAP contest; that really was a thrill especially when Lynn Cook published the article about it. I never thought I would get mentioned in an international magazine, so that was very exciting.

Through the years, I have made friends with many of my customers and I will remember you fondly. Women from all over the place, from Deirdre close to home, to Kathryn in BC, to Micki in Iowa, Verna in Calgary, Janette in Winnipeg,Vicki in Victoria, Pat in Toronto, Joan in Waterloo, Phyllis in Delaware, Angelita in California, Nancy in Halifax (who brought me flowers) and so many others. You have become like friends through our emails and conversations; there are too many of you to mention. But I wish you all the very best in life, happiness, peace and good health in the years to come. Many hours of enjoyable sewing, and may all your projects turn out so much better than expected!

To all who sew, I wish you hours of sewing enjoyment, the satisfaction of seeing your seams come out straight, your sleeves go in without a pucker, your zippers come out even with perfect stitching, and invisible hems among many other sewing accomplishments.

Know that I will be sewing along with you, I doubt that I will stop for many years to come. After all, I have become spoiled by the fact that nothing I buy could ever fit me as well as something hand-made (believe me, I've looked). And there is that wonderful feeling of sitting down in front of the sewing machine, with a brand new project to begin, with all the happy anticipation of the new garment. I enjoy making the garment so much more than I enjoy wearing it; perhaps that is because for so many years, I only sewed for others and very little for myself.

I hope that you will find vendors who will find you nice fabrics; may there be endless supplies of quality dress fabrics in the years to come, even if we have to search high and low for them.

Goodbye and I wish you all the best and my closing words are God bless you all. Julie
